Two-toned cabinetry has been trending for quite a while now, and it seems that the trend is here to stay. Easily adaptable, this design works in a multitude of different style of homes. Two toned cabinets allow for both some visual interest and contrast in your kitchen. The trend involves playing around with different color variations. As interior design expert Lauren Makk says two-toning a kitchen is one of the easiest ways to create interest.
Here’s the lowdown on the “How To”:
Go darker on the bottom:
Traditionally, in a two-toned kitchen, the upper cabinetry will be one color while the lower will be a different. This works great in a smaller space because it allows for a larger appearance in your kitchen, as the lighter color draws the eye up.
Make your “pop” in the Island:
One of the most popular ways to express this design is using one color for the entire kitchen and a different complementary color for the island cabinets. The dark base color in the island creates drama. However, there are no rules in this game!
Neutral color combos:
These color combinations may seem obvious, but can pack a punch in any kitchen!

Wood Influences:
Textured wood ads a rustic element, that will compliment any colored cabinet.

Color Pops:
Allow a pop of color to take center stage in your kitchen!
